Spring Forward Through Time

Welcome back to Sci-Fi with Kristi, the library's resident Sci-Fi nerd! We’re getting set to ‘Spring Forward’ so I thought it would be a perfect “time” to share some of my favourite time travel stories!

The enticing idea of travelling forward in time and seeing the future has captivated people's imagination for years. But don't forget, if you see your future self, things can get crazy! Let's have a look at some of the best time travel adventures the library has to offer!

You can’t talk about wibbly wobbly, timey wimey stuff without at least mentioning Doctor Who. Bonus: if you’re new to Who, you have enough content to keep you busy for a loooong time! Check out the show, read some of the companion (see what I did there?) novels, and see what life is like inside the TARDIS. You can even go back in time and watch some classic Who!

Time travel was popular in the early days of science fiction too. The Time Machine by HG Wells is the beloved classic sci-fi story of a man who builds a time machine and travels forward to see what becomes of Earth and humanity. He quickly learns that you may not always like what you see.

This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar is a recent addition to time travel. Told in letters written back and forth between two time agents, This is How You Lose the Time War is a captivating tale sure to pull you in.

Check out some more of the time travel books and movies we have in our catalogue.
