TackleShare

What is TackleShare?

The TackleShare Program makes fishing equipment available to Ontarians at no cost.

They provide fishing rods, reels, and tackle boxes to ‘loaner sites’ that then lend them out to customers

The Chippawa location of the Niagara Falls Public Library is proud to be one of these loaner sites.

The program is made possible through a partnership with the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters and is sponsored by Ontario Power Generation.

Borrowing information

When you borrow TackleShare equipment with your library card, you will be given one fishing rod and reel, one tackle box with various lures and bobbers, and one Young Anglers Licence (usable by anyone under the age of 18). These licences are free, not mandatory for persons under the age of 18 if they want to fish, and are more focused on the educational and ethical aspects of fishing in Ontario.

For those 18 and over, you will need to provide your own fishing license in order to use the TackleShare equipment. This is a legal requirement by the province of Ontario.

The equipment can be borrowed on an adult card, for 3 weeks with 0 renewals. Visit our catalogue to place a hold and reserve your kit now!
